Type 2 : EAU DE PERFUME / EAU DE PARFUM (EDP)

  • This is the second most expensive perfume type, containing 15 to 20% of essential or fragrance oil in the fragrance base.
  • It has the second lowest amount of alcohol content.
  • Perfume fragrance can last up to 6 hours.
  • This type of perfume is still recommended for sensitive skin due to its lower alcohol percentage.

Type 3: EAU DE TOILETTE (EDT)

  • This is the most purchased perfume type. Eau de toilette is usually thought to be Eau de parfum as it has a similarity in naming.
  • Only around 5-15% of essential oils/fragrance oils are present in this perfume type.
  • The fragrance smell lasts for a couple of hours between 2-4 hours.
  • Alcohol contains is higher in it which tends to evaporate quicker than PARFUM AND EAU DE PARFUM.

Type 4: EAU DE COLOGNE (EDC)

  • The percentage of essential oils or fragrances gets even lower with only 2% to 4% being present in Eau De Cologne.
  • Fragrance only lasts for 2 hours.
  • Highly inexpensive and usually comes in bigger bottles as more of it will be required for application.

Type 5: EAU FRAICHE

  • This is the cheapest type of Perfume that’s available.
  • This is the most diluted essential / fragrance oil. In terms of concentration, it ranges around 1 to 3%.
  • EAU FRAICHE means fresh water. Thus the main ingredient here is water.
  • Usually used for a quick freshen-up. The fragrance can only last for an hour.

This is not a type of perfume but it is basically an option instead of an alcohol or water-based perfume. This is a pure oil-based perfume with no alcohol or water.

Fragrance concentration can go up to a maximum range of 20% in Perfume oils.
