Are you curious to know what is the famous Lamborghini vs Ferrari Story? I was equally curious and excited when I heard about the classic rivalry between these two premium luxury sports car companies.
How Lamborghini was Invented?
The story is from the year 1963 when an Italian tractor manufacturer named Ferruccio Lamborghini was unhappy with his Ferrari car. He realized the car clutch failed a lot while driving. One fine day he drove to the nearby town of Maranello and knocked on the door of Enzo Ferrari’s house, the owner of the Ferrari company.
They both went for the discussion where Mr Lamborghini expressed his dissatisfaction with the car and also gave advice and feedback on what could be improved according to him as he was a technical guy running a tractor company.
But Enzo Ferrari failed to see it as feedback and constructive criticism instead took it on his ego and started insulting Lamborghini in a harsh arrogant way.
How a tractor manufacturer can advise the world’s best sports car company?
Enzo Ferrari said “Let me make cars. You stick to making tractors.”
As you can predict, the conversation didn’t go well for both. My Lamborghini drove back home, felt insulted and furious by the behaviour of Mr Ferrari towards him and his engineering skills. Decided to build a car that will outperform Ferrari.
In those days Mr Lamborghini’s tractor was famous all around Italy still he decided to get into the business of car manufacturing. In a short span of 4 months, a small factory was built near Sant’Agata Bolognese in Italy and a Lamborghini was invented.
First Lamborghini (Lamborghini 350 GT)
The Lamborghini 350GT was the first Lamborghini car that ever came into existence. It was a good start and well-received by customers as well. But it had one problem which is why Ferrari wasn’t bothered much with the 350GT launch.
Any guesses?
Yeah, It was not as fast as the Ferrari car models in those days.
But in the next two years, things were about to change when Lamborghini launched Miura
Lamborghini Miura
Lamborghini Miura was the second car, Lamborghini launched in 1965. And it shook the entire race car industry with its performance, yeah even Ferrari was surprised. Miura is widely popular as the first supercar in the world.
Lamborghini Countach
However, Ferruccio Lamborghini had to sell his company due to various world events in those days. But the new owner continued with Lamborghini production and finally, we saw the Lamborghini Countach into existence in 1971.
Yeah, it is the same car that had millions of wall posters around the world.
